GVRRID Positions
GVRRID is still looking for a few GREAT people to serve in the following positions:
Professional Development Committee — Planning workshops, discussions and professional development events for our members, colleagues and consumers.
Sunshine Committee — Spread happiness and share our condolences with our members. You will be responsible for sending cards to people who have recently become certified, gotten married, had a baby, experienced a lengthy illness or loss of a loved one. Members are responsible to inform us of their “events”.
Calendar Guru — Help your colleagues and the community keep up with all of the fun and exciting events going on around town. Training on using the calendar tool will be provided by our Webmaster, Matthew Disch. Event collection will happen through your participation on various listservs as well as emails from members and the board.
Web Liason — Are you always online? Do you enjoy all the details of website management? You would be the liason between the board, members and our website designer / maintainer, Matthew Disch.
Nominations / Elections Chair / Committee — Keep track of upcoming board election needs and solicit members to fill the board. Requires knowledge and understanding of current by-laws and voting procedures.
Membership Chair — Keep track of members, follow up on lapsed memberships, serve as a board resource and contact person for people desiring to join the organization. Some public speaking may be requested (as in introducing GVRRID to new students at NTID and other local interpreting programs).
Legislative Issues / Bylaws Committee - Are you detail orientied and or politically minded? Members of this committee keep the membership informed about changes in laws and regulations that affect the profession; maintain the bylaws to ensure they are in keeping with any national RID changes; accept and process suggested bylaws changes from the membership; and make recommendations for changes to the bylaws.
Social Chair / Committee — Are you great at planning parties? Would you like to help us network with one another, as well as interact on a personal level by suggesting and “hosting” events for our members. These are non-CEU bearing events.
Consumer Relations Committee — How do you like working with customers? In this role, you would be responsible for maintaining and improving GVRRID’s relationships with consumers and consumer organizations. You would also be one of the many “faces” of GVRRID to the community, a person they knew could be trusted to openly and objectively receive suggestions, complaints and requests.
