Kathy is currently teaching full time in the American Sign Language Interpreting Education Program at NTID/RIT. Prior to her full time appointment at RIT, Kathy managed the Interpreter Services Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center for 23 years. Kathy’s area of interpreting expertise is in medical/mental health settings. Kathy was the Principal Investigator on a national grant funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to develop “best practices” for the delivery of all Language Services in hospital settings. She is also the Interpreting Manager for a video remote sign language interpreting program called “Strong Connections”. Kathy conducts interpreter supervision sessions with interpreters in the Rochester community utilizing the Demand Control Schema. She and her husband, Jay, have two daughters and one grandson.
