Who's Who
- Danny Maffia, BS
- Interim Secretary
I was originally born in the Bronx, but later moved to Pennsylvania. Once moving to Pennsylvania at the age of 10 I met a friend of mine who is Deaf and became interested in sign language. From that point on after seeing my friends interpreters, I knew I wanted to become an interpreter. Later with the help of one of my high school teachers who is a CODA, I was fortunate enough to get a volunteer internship at the Scranton State School for the Deaf. After that experience I had decided I had wanted to come to RIT to become an interpreter. I recently graduated from RIT's/NTID's interpreting program with my bachelors. I have been interpreting for about 1.5 years working in various settings such as freelance, K-12, and higher education. Currently I work full-time as a staff interpreter at RIT on the College of Liberal Arts Core Team. I have had the privilege to work as a support staff person for the RID National Conference in 2009. Currently I am actively pursuing my certification. Besides interpreting I enjoy playing tennis.
